Ayesha Baig
Hello and Welcome to Breathe Counselling Service
I work with both the mind (psyche) and body (soma), focusing on how our emotions can impact our bodies and how the body shapes the narrative of our life journey.
I hold a degree in psychology and a counselling diploma, along with specialised training in polyvagal theory and somatic therapy. This combination of qualifications allows me to offer a holistic approach that integrates both mind and body in the healing process. Through polyvagal theory, I explore how the nervous system influences emotional experiences, while somatic therapy focuses on the body’s role in storing emotional and traumatic memories, helping you release tension and cultivate resilience.
How person centred therapy works?
Person-centred therapy (PCT) is a type of therapy where I will creates a safe, supportive, and understanding space for you to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings. I will listen without judgment and help you feel accepted, valued, and understood.
The benefits of this approach include helping you feel more confident, understand yourself better, express your emotions freely, and make positive changes in your lives. PCT encourages you to take charge of your own growth and healing, leading to improved relationships and a stronger sense of self.
How Somatic Therapy Works
Just as a visible injury causes pain when you cut your finger, emotional pain can have a powerful impact on our physical bodies. Emotions often manifest physically through symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue, heart palpitations, headaches, and chronic pain. These physical responses tell the story of how experiences have been embodied in both your mind and body.
When our nervous system is overwhelmed, whether from a sudden shock or prolonged stress, it can create lasting imbalances. Through somatic therapy, we identify and release these trapped emotions, guiding you toward healing and resilience.
How will this benefit you?
In our sessions, we will explore the deep connection between your experiences, emotions, and body. The mind and body are connected they are not separate. Our body is constantly sending signals to interpret our environment and it is our mind that make the the narrative of environment. By connected what our mind thinks and our body felt, you can understand more effectively the impact of the experiences and where and imbalance has occurred resulting in difficulties in our life.
By acknowledging and understanding the mind and body process you’ll gain self-awareness, emotional regulation, Resilience in managing everyday life and triggers.
